8 Ball Billiards

About the Game

8 Ball Billiards is a billiards game where you take on a ladder of computer opponents, one table at a time. Line up your cue, set your power and sink your balls before your rival does. The physics feel solid, the table looks sharp, and every opponent plays a little smarter than the last. It's a free browser game, so you can play online on desktop or mobile with no download.

You don't need to be a bar regular to enjoy it. The first few rivals are forgiving. By the time you reach the top of the ladder, though, you'll need clean angles and decent position play.

How to Play

  • One player takes solids, the other takes stripes. The first ball you legally pot decides your group.
  • Pot all seven balls in your group.
  • Then pot the black 8 ball to win the frame.
  • Potting the 8 ball early, or scratching while you shoot it, loses the game.
  • If you miss or foul, your opponent takes the table.

After a foul, the other player gets ball in hand and can place the cue ball anywhere on the table.

Controls (desktop / mobile)

  • Desktop: move the mouse to aim, drag the power bar back to set strength, and release to shoot.
  • Mobile: drag your finger around the cue ball to aim, then pull the power slider and let go.

Fine-tuning works on both: small, slow movements give you precise angles.

Game Features

  • 20 opponents. A ladder of computer rivals, from casual players to sharp shooters.
  • Realistic ball physics. Angles, rebounds and speed behave the way you'd expect on a real table.
  • Long aim line. Extends your aiming guide so you can see where the object ball will travel after contact.
  • Shot retry. Take a missed shot again instead of handing the table to your rival.
  • Progress through the ladder. Beat one opponent to unlock the next.

Tips & Tricks

  • Less power, more control. Hard shots look impressive but scatter the cue ball. Medium power keeps you in position.
  • Think one shot ahead. Before you shoot, ask where the cue ball will stop and what shot you'll have next.
  • Clear trouble balls early. If one of your balls is stuck against a cushion or in a cluster, deal with it while the table is still open.
  • Don't leave easy shots. When you can't pot anything, play safe and leave the cue ball somewhere awkward for your opponent.
  • Save the long aim line for tough rivals. It's most useful on tricky bank shots against the top of the ladder.

The best way to improve at 8 Ball Billiards is to stop thinking about one shot and start thinking about three.
